KHADIJAH

"Get dat money Girl"!!!

No she's not the video-vixen, nor a stripper, and not JUST another pretty face!
Khadijah is a trulytalented STRIVER and the next hot thing on the music market. Strive recently had the opportunity to sit down with Kadijah and ask a few questions about her relationship with the music industry.
Given her experience in Rock, Hip-Hop and R&B (just to name a few) we had to holler at the background singer turned up and coming songwriter.
STRIVE: WHEN IS THIS CAREER MOST FULFILLING?
KHADIJAH:  I have been blessed to work with
some of my idols.Luther Vandross was one. He invited me to sing backup on
his last album"Dance with my father". That was one of the proudest
moments in my life, and especially since people told me that it would
never happen. I've also done tours withPuffy and Lenny Kravitz just to
name a few.
I also did tours with
Leela James and I've worked withDave Matthews
and Bilal.
STRIVE: WHY SING, WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?
KHADIJAH: What keeps me motivated is my love for music and life. I truly think
that music is my calling. I know I will do great things in it. Not just
with singing, but now with writing. I plan to take over this game with my
God-given talents.

STRIVE: DO TIMES GET HARD, WHATS THE MOST DEGRADING THING YOU HAVE HAD TO DO?
KHADIJAH: I'm not so sure about hard, but I've surely faced many challenges. Like
when I made the choice to focus more on my writing career rather than
just being a backup singer. As a singer you make fast and good money,
but as a new songwriter, money is never promised. So financially the
transition has been a little challenging, but I love it all. It's all
part of my great journey. And people also told me that this goal would
be impossible to reach. telling me that it would take too long for me
to gain the respect of the right people that could get me in the right
door. I haven't even been at this writing thing for a whole year yet
and already my dreams are coming to fruition.I'm finding that what may
be the norm for most doesn't have to apply to my experience. I have
strong faith and will so I persist until I succeed. And thank God I've
never had to do anything degrading. I've been blessed because I know of
a lot of people in this business that have. most think that that's part
of paying your dues, but I don't exccept that.

STRIVE: WHAT'S YOUR NEXT MOVE?
page8_blog_entry31_3
KHADIJAH: The next step is to build my Publishing company. I'm working with a lot
of great producers some known and some on the come-up, writing for
different artists. There is so much money to be made in the writing game.
Why not me? I've put together a writing team and we're working to
create good music that will last a life time.
